This small village in Upstate New York is a close-knit community of active, involved people. Along with its sister village, Phelps, local churches are the St. John's Episcopal Church, St. Felix/St. Francis Parish Cluster (Catholic), Clifton Springs United Methodist Church, the Baptist Church of Clifton Springs, Phelps Baptist Church, Church of the Nazarene, New Hope Bible Church, and the United Church of Phelps (Methodist/Presbyterian). Clifton Springs, once known as Sulfur Springs, was the home of the "water cure," a hot spot for all kinds of ailments. Dr. Henry Foster, who moved to this area in the 1800s, was the "founding father" of what is now Clifton Springs Hospital & Clinic, a major hub for medical treatment in the Finger Lakes. Victorian influence can be seen all around the village, with many owners of these beautiful homes now undergoing improvements. Most of the Victorian homes are painted in three colors or tones in the fashion of that era. The Sulphur Springs Festival, held every July, is a three-day celebration of the village's heritage. Some of the attractions are: arts and crafts vendors, food, antiques, wagon rides, food, entertainment, people dressed in Victorian costume, food, contests, a Victorian tea room (with food), tours...did I mention there was lots of food? Before you leave, check the weather at the bottom of this page.
